In 1952, he married Barbara Anderson. He was employed in the timber industry for many years, moving to Klamath Falls in 1976 to work for Jeld-Wen. Dean was well liked and enjoyed helping others. He voluntarily helped build Exodus House and together with wife Barbara ministered to the students of Oregon Institute of Technology for 32 years.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Towne, daughters Merry Grogan (Alan) of Astoria and Holly Van Rossum (Tom) of Gresham, son William (Gloria) of Grants Pass, eight grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, one great-great-granddaughter, and his brother Sam Towne (Trish).
