Barbara Nell Cox Phillips, age 72 of Carrollton, passed away Monday, October 16, 2017. She was born July 11, 1945 in Cleburne County, Alabama to the late Melford Cox and Jessie Weaver Cox. She was a homemaker and Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Helen Denney; and three brothers, Lee Cox, Joe Cox, and Hugh Cox. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Jackie Phillips of Carrollton; her children, Jacqualine B. Bennett of Carrollton, Elecia J. Lavender (Greg) of Graham, AL, Tammy T. Shadrix (Rod) of Carrollton, Danny J. Phillips of Carrollton, and Donna M. McWhorter (Craig) of Carrollton; sisblings, Betty Sue Duffey of Cave Springs, GA, Marie Driver, Ruth Arthur (Ricky) of Carrollton, Pauline Entrekin (Wayne) of Carrollton, and Jane Dyer (Bobby) of Carrollton; eight grandchildren, Logan Henry, Carly McWhorter, Stratton Bennett, Mitchell Lavender, Avery McWhorter, Brandon Lavender, Riley Phillips, and Thatcher Phillips; three great grandchildren; and seventeen nieces and eleven nephews. Funeral service will be conducted Friday, October 20, 2017 at 2:00 PM from Martin & Hightower Heritage Chapel with Rev. Keith Runels and Jeff Stacey officiating. Interment will follow in Carroll Memory Gardens. Those serving as pallbearers will be Logan Henry, Stratton Bennett, Mitchell Lavender, Avery McWhorter, Brandon Lavender, and Thatcher Phillips. Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Smith, James Kerbow, Greg Lavender, Rod Shadrix, Riley Phillips, and Craig McWhorter.
