Virginia Ann Halcomb, 86, of North Vernon passed away at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at her residence.

Born July 26, 1931, in Jennings County, Mrs. Halcomb was the daughter of Hurbert and Theresa Holdreth Ebbing. She married Wallace Halcomb on October 15, 1988 at the First United Methodist Church in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on December 19, 2015

Mrs. Halcomb worked as a private home health provider for several years and had previously worked for the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center in Butlerville for 12 years. She was a member of Butlerville Mennonite Church in Butlerville. Mrs. Halcomb enjoyed listening to Blue Grass music, butterflies, flower gardening, going to auctions and spending time with her family.

Survivors include son, Melvin Clark of North Vernon; daughter Cathy (Carl) Grigsby of North Vernon; brothers, Raymond Ebbing of Georgia, Leo Ebbing of Indianapolis, and Paul Ebbing of Arizona; sisters, Ann Hopkins of Florida and Rita Farran of North Vernon; grandchildren, Brian (Cindy) Grigsby of Olean, Bradley Grigsby of North Vernon and Dawn Marie (Sean) Scott of Vernon; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Mary Ley; brothers, Victor, Vincent, and David Ebbing, Robert and Eugene McPherson.

A funeral service for Mrs. Halcomb will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services in North Vernon with the Rev. Dale Boyd officiating. Family and Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 18, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in the Dupont Cemetery in Dupont.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the American Cancer Society for Breast Cancer Research.
