Bud Cother
Amory - Edward T. "Bud" Cother, 81, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born July 21, 1920, in Wren. He grew up in Wren and lived in Amory for many years. He married Virginia "Ginny" Douglas Cother in 1946, she died in 2001. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Amory, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion. He was a colonel in the administration of John Bell Williams. He was a graduate of Amory High School Class of 1939. He owned and operated C&F Contracting Co. Inc; Bud's Sand and Gravel Company; and Monroe Investment Corp.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pickle Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Allen Simpson and Jimmy McFatter officiating. Burial will be in the Old Union Cemetery in Monroe County.

Survivors include two sons, John Cother and his wife, Norma, of Tupelo, and Ben Cother and his wife Peggy, of Wren; a daughter Karen Cother Boyd of Atlanta, Ga; three grandchildren, Kristen Cother, Justin Cother and Jason Cother, a sister, Merle Roberts of Amory.

Pallbearers will be Henry G. Wright, Maither Brown, Fred Brown, Voy Cantrell, Paul Pate, Ned Young, Rufus Palmer and Ben Scott.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
