Bernard Eugene Callahan, age 89, of Hoffman Estates. Loving husband of the late Karen Callahan, nee Kennedy. Devoted father of James (Lee) Callahan, Richard Callahan, Theresa Callahan, Kevin (Liviana) Callahan, Robert (Yuki) Callahan, David (Kathy) Callahan, Nicholas Callahan, Robin Callahan and the late Carol Callahan. Caring grandfather of 18 and great grandfather of 15. Cherished son of James and Mabel Callahan. Dear brother of Dorothy (the late Marcellus), the late Robert (the late Jean) and Frances (the late Neil).
Bernie was a proud electrical engineer and a navy veteran. Bernie and his late wife, Karen, provided foster care for more than 50 children.
A celebration of life for both Bernie and Karen will be Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:30 AM at Ahlgrim and Sons Funeral and Cremation Services, 330 W. Golf Road, Schaumburg.
