The two first met each other in 1950 at Montauk Point, Long Island, and married a year later. From 1961 to 1965, Valerie and Charles co-wrote and published language texts for children. To better facilitate his paranormal research, they moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the early 1980's. A talent in her own right, Valerie was also a teacher, artist, garden designer, decorator, as well as a mother. Their marriage produced two children; a daughter, Lin, and son, Marc.
