***My mother was born on a small farm in Gendtofte.
My parents were married 30 Dec 1845 and made their home in Tvolm, Ydby Parish. There they owned a piece of land on which they could keep 2 cows. There I was born August 13,1849 the second child. In 1855 we moved to Kobber, there we had a place big enough for 1 cow, and here I went to Gjettrup school.
***at one place where Jens was hired out, he writes: When my mother came to visit me, I told my troubles to her, and she told the man he should treat me better, but he grabbed her by the neck and threw her out of the house. She came to me out in the barn and took me with her home.***
