Thomas Beaty was of Scotch-Irish extraction and was a participant in the Revolutionary War. He married Sarah Turner about 1782 in Virginia.

Thomas is widowed by September of 1817 when he wrote his will since it makes no provisions for his wife Sarah. His will was probated June 1818 in Montgomery County, Kentucky.
