On Monday January 27, Thomas Nelson Figg passed away peacefully in his home on Red Hill Road at the age of 94 with his family by his side.
He was a caring husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Nelson was a farmer, Sunday school teacher, school bus driver for 28 years, and served as the Bean-Blossom Township Trustee for 20 years. As a dedicated Christian and family man, Nelson never met a person he did not love.
Nelson was born October 24, 1919 to Tom and Albertie (Elliott) Figg. He married Eunice (Burch) Figg on August 5, 1945 and were married for 64 years until her passing in January 2010. He was preceded in death by his siblings Lester, Frances (Presley) and Jane (Kiser) and his son-in-law Jerry Warthan.
He was survived by two daughters, Treva Warthan and Vera Figg, and two sons, Samuel (Jody) and Timothy (Vicki), as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with grandson, Steve Warthan officiating. Burial will follow at Old Dutch Community Church Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, January 31, 2014 from 4-8 and again one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Old Dutch Community Church Cemetery.
