One of 13 Philadelphia firefighters who died in the horrendous Friedlander Leather Remnants factory fire on December 21st and 22nd, 1910. The walls of the factory collapsed on the firefighters. The fire remains the worst death toll in Philadelphia Fire Department history. A ceremony was held at the location of the site at 3rd Street and Girard Avenue in December 2010 commemorating 100 years since the disaster. The area is the site of an apartment complex and stores.

F., and members of Truck No. 1, and the Philadelphia Fire Department Relief Association and Insurance Patrol and the Harrison Club of the 15th Ward, are respectfully invited to attend the funeral, on Tuesday afternoon, at 2 o'clock, from his late residence, No. 779 N. 23d St. Remains may be viewed Monday evening. Interment at Fernwood Cemetery."
