Lt. Col. Perry O. Black, 95, of Terre Haute died Wednesday, October 30, 2013, in Brazil, Indiana.
He was born July 10, 1918, in Terre Haute to the late Perry and Edna Burbidge Black. He was preceded in death by three wives, Martha Kiger Black, Eunice Black and Mary Ellen Black and a brother, Norman Black.
Surviving are step children, Harold Baker, Susan Baker, Kenneth Baker and Phyllis Miller; several step grandchildren and nieces and nephews; several cousins including Leonard Stultz and a sister-in-law, Louise Newnum.
He served in the United States Air Force in World War II and Korea retiring after 28 years as a Lt. Colonel. He was a navigator on 69 bomber missions and received 12 Air Medals and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He taught Vocational Agriculture and Industrial Arts in the Lafayette area. He retired in 1980 as Senior Editor for ITT Publishing.
