Edward Comminey was the 8th of 9 children born to Julia Martiez in Watts, California on August 24, 1944. His mother Julia loved the singing group the Honneydrippers. Between Julia and her sister Adalia, they lovingly nicknamed him Honeydripper. Over time it was shortened to Dripper and Drip to some. Tragically at the age of 12 on October 17, 1956 his mother passed away; leaving him alone in this great big world. It didn't take Dripper long to figure out how to survive. This is where his resilient and independent spirit came to life. After the death of his mother, he went to live with his dad Sherman Comminey in Compton. He remained a Compton resident until his last breath. In 1963 he married Norida "Chickee" Lear. To their union, three children were born; Tafvolaun (Jeff), Edward (Sabine), and Shannique (Laupati). We don't know when his love for motorcycles manifested; however, we do know it was before 1963 because of all the motorcycle pictures that tell us his story. Dripper loved his motorcycles so much that they had a permanent spot in his living room. He was a faithful member of The Chosen Few Motorcycle Club and a strong associate of their brother club, The East Bay Dragons. He began working for General Motors in the early 60's and remained with them for 36 years. He ended his career as a Spot Welder and a Troubleshooting Machinist. Eventually his marriage to Chickee ended and they both went their seperate ways. Despite the split, Dripper remained a constant figure in the lives of his chldren and also claimed Norman III (Cherrise), Jilai (Fidel), and Tayana (Darryll) as his own. He would pick up all of the kids because he didn't want anyone to feel left out. He believed in peace nd standing up for his Constitutional Rights. He believed in treating everyone fairly and stood up for the underdog. Dripper was truly one of a kind and he did things his way. He married Linda Ann Taylor January 12, That marriage ended...

Dripper is survived by 19 grandchildren: Damaris, Jovaun (Threse), Kamarri (Tafvolaun's), Jeffrey, Eileen, Shanice (Edward's), Lonjay, Noralia, Leilia, Launikko, Mathyus, Brandoon, and Keonahi'ilani (Shannique's), Norman IV, Aiden (Norman's III), Shyanne, Kira, Andre (Jilai's), Tayon (Tayana's), and 6 great grandchildren Leighla (Jeffrey), Kiana, Volaun, Jayvin, Zaliyah (Damaris). Proceeding him in death Micha (2011-2011) and Xander (2016-2016) (Damaris'). Da'vauri (Jovaun)

Dripper will be remembered forever by his many sayings which include, "F' em", It is what it is", "not today", "be safe and pay attention", "That's how the cookie crumbles", and "peace out!" People say sorry for your loss, but he's not lost. When something is lost you can't find it. We know exactly where Dripper is; tucked away in our hearts~

Soar Harley man, Soar

What did we learn from the man on the porch?
The one with the hat and cigs of some sort.
The one with the coffee and music a blarin’.
Playing so loud that he’s not really carin'.

What did we learn from the guy with the smile,
who could give understanding with the raise of his brow.
Who would tell you new words that you could soon use,
making you feel kind of smart, yet left you confused.

We learned to be tough and get up when we fall.
We learned to throw and catch all kinds of balls.
We learned that you needed a reason to cry
and if not the excuse, somethings inside my eye.

We learned not to fear anyone or anything,
and on that there porch many a caged birds did sing.
We learned that a Harley bike, the engine can roar,
and out on the road the Harley man soars.

We learned that the Harley man had some where to go,
he got on his bike and took off for the show.
Oh Mr. Harley man will you be back soon,
so I can once again here that bike go Vroom-Vroom?

And Harley man replied, arms in extension,
out on the road, Be safe, pay attention.
My journey has ended; I have nothing to show,
as I ride up to heaven as far as I go.

And who would have guessed, in heaven nothing changed,
that dear Harley man was truly the same.
Will you be back Harley man, please tell me so,
“hell no, check me out, that’s me ridin’ low.” Peace Out!
