Lucille graduated from the Knox Conservatory of Music and attended Monmouth College. She taught piano for more than 50 years, and directed junior church choirs in several area churches.
She loved to tell stories of growing up on a farm and how her parents traveled to the St. Louis World's Fair on their honeymoon in 1904. Her mother died from influenza when Lucille was nine years old and her father died six months later from a ruptured appendix. After that, Lucille and Frances were raised by a grandmother.
I feel very lucky to have had Lucille in my life for the ten years she taught my son piano. She was dedicated to her students and encouraged them to do their best.
