Diane was born in Waynesville, NC, December 18, 1957 daughter of the late James Calvin Messer, Sr. and Norma Messer Caudle and her husband, Tony of Waynesville, NC. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the University of Tennessee and a Masters of Music from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Rev. Bailes was a member of Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church where she was the Associate Minister of Music and Organist. Diane had served in similar capacities in churches in NC, TN and TX, and been a church organist since the age of 15. She was also a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, Committee for the Celebrating Grace Hymnal and the American Guild of Organists. Diane enjoyed sewing, decorating, crafts and music; but was at her happiest when she was with her family.
Surviving in addition to her mother and step father are her husband, Rev. David Bailes; daughters, Melissa Bailes Wisor and husband, Donny and Kristin Bailes all of Charlotte, NC; brothers, Jeff Messer and wife Janice of Winston-Salem, NC and Jim Messer and wife, Deborah of Canton, NC; nieces and nephews Stephanie and Chuck Wooten, Jeffrey and Ashley Messer, Cal and Kimberly Messer and Kaylan Messer; great-nieces and nephews, Betsy and Samantha Wooten, Evan and Grayson Messer and Lexi, Sadie and Scout Messer.
A service to celebrate her life will be held Tuesday evening, November 17, 2009 at 7:30 p.m. at Pritchard Memorial Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Morrow, Rev. Stan Heiser and Rev. Dr. Steve Rumley officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 5:00 p.m. until the service hour.
Diane impacted countless lives in her role as a children's choir director, handbell director, choral accompanist for choirs of all ages and private piano teacher. She was well known for her positive spirit and radiant smile which uplifted everyone who knew her. Diane gave all glory to God for all the good things in her life and it was her desire to point everyone to her Lord Jesus Christ.
