Private. 53rd Georgia Infantry. Confederate States Army. Company C - Fayette Planters (Fayette County, Ga.) *He enlisted on July 17, 1862 and died at the General Hospital in Staunton VA. of dysentery. Burial in the Thornrose Cemetery. He is buried in the Confederate Section of this cemetery.

Asa was the great, great grandson of Richard and Martha Jackson of North Carolina, the great grandson of Lewis and Martha Jackson of North Carolina, the grandson of Jordan and Letha Jackson of North Carolina and Fayette County, Ga. and the son of William Needham and Eveline (Thornton) Jackson of Fayette County, Ga.
