Amy was an exploration and mining geologist, a daughter, wife, and mother. She had B.S. degree in geology from Juniata College in Pennsylvania and a M.S. degree in economic geology from the Lowell Program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She completed her thesis on the genetic links between breccia pipes and porphyry copper deposits. She was a member of the Arizona Geological Society and worked for a number of exploration and mining companies including Bell Resources, Rio Tinto Resolution Project, ASARCO Ray, and Phelps Dodge/ Freeport-McMoRan Copper & Gold Sierrita.

Amy Eichenlaub, of Lewistown, and Kevin Snyder, of Ridgewood, N.J., were married April 26, 2008, at Hacienda del Sol Resort in Tucson, Ariz.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. David Eichenlaub, of Lewistown. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Snyder, of Ridgewood, N.J.

Tracy Hysong, of Tucson, was matron of honor. The best man was Kris Kerry, of Tucson. Bridesmaids were Sara Bier, of Virginia; Betsy Gershman, of Tucson; and Jennifer Becker, of Tucson.

Groomsmen were Brad Snyder, of Doylestown, brother of the groom; David Eichenlaub, brother of the bride; and Tim Tullar, of Tucson. Flower girls were Kate Stevenson, of Tucson; and Gillian Snyder, of Doylestown.

The ring bearer was Taku, the couple's Malamute. Ted Miller performed the ceremony that also included harpist Maria Banks. A reception followed at the resort.

The bride is a 1994 graduate of Lewistown Area High School, a 1998 graduate of Juniata College, and a 2007 graduate of the University of Arizona. She is employed as a geologist with Bell Copper Corp., of Vancouver, B.C.

The groom is a 1994 graduate of Ridgewood High School, a 1999 and 2006 graduate of the University of Arizona. He is employed as a registered nurse at University Medical Center, Tucson, Ariz.

Following a wedding a trip to Belize, they live in Tucson, Ariz.

Amy Eichenlaub Snyder age 36, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Peppi's House, an inpatient hospice unit at Tucson Medical Center, after a year-long battle with melanoma.

Born in Lewistown, PA on October 24, 1975, Amy graduated from Lewistown High School and Juniata College. With a life-long passion for rocks, she pursued a career as a geologist and earned her Masters Degree in Science from the University of Arizona. During her career, Amy worked for Asarco Ray Inc., Kenncott Exploration, Phelps Dodge, Bell Copper and most recently for Freeport-McMoRan in Green Valley, AZ. Amy enjoyed traveling to exotic places, hiking, high fashion, geology, good food and wine and her beloved Malamute, the late Taku.

She is survived by her husband of four years, Kevin B. Snyder; daughter, Finley Lake Snyder (23 mo); parents, Dr. David and Virginia Eichenlaub, Lewistown, PA; brother, David Eichenlaub and wife, Kristen Welches, OR.

A private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Amy's geologist friends have set up an educational trust for Finley. The family asks that if you are so moved, to consider making a donation to benefit Fin's secondary education. Contact 520-310-3504 for information.
