Edwin Larue Bradley was my 1st husband's dad. His dad's name was Edwin Edson Bradley and his mom was Ethel Bates. He had 2 brothers Roy (May 2, 1911 - December 9, 1918) and Ken Bradley. Roy died at 7 years of age.

Ed married Mary Elizabeth Grimes on June 1, 1933 in Alanson, Michigan. Their Birthdays were on the same day but one year apart. They lived in Leslie, MI for many years. Ed loved to garden and gave a lot of food to the people who needed it. He and his wife often took care of children. Many mothers left them when they needed to go to the store or doctor.

He worked for many years as a Security Guard at Consumer's Power in Jackson, MI until he retired. Jim and I used to go to his work and visit him a couple of times a week. He always wanted us to bring the children to show them off.

One day a bat flew into their house while we were visiting them. All of us started protecting our heads and much screaming went on. Ed got out his 22 riffle and starting shooting all over the kitchen. I grabbed my children and we crouched on the floor. He did get the bat after many shots but I was more afraid he would shoot one or all of us.

They had 3 sons, Edwin (Mike) Bradley, Ronnie Ray Bradley who died at 4 months of age and James Wesley Bradley (February 18, 1947) who was born 12 years after Mike. I was married to James Wesley Bradley.

We had the funeral in Leslie at the Woodlawn cemetery where the burial took place.
