Mary's maiden name was Grimes. She was born to Henry Harrison Grimes and Bessie Mae (Kaiser). I remember when I was a young woman she cried as she told me how much she missed her mom. I could not understand her pain until I lost my own precious mom.
Mary was a very sweet, kind, and loving woman. She took care of people in their homes for many years. She gave to anyone who was in need of food or clothes. She loved to quilt comforters and they were so warm. It was only a few years ago that mine wore out. She loved to write poems and any kind of hand work.
Mom Bradley went to church every Sunday and Wednesday. She read her Bible everyday I used to see her fall asleep after a long day while reading it. My birth mother and she were friends all their lives. As a child I called mom and dad Bradley Aunt Mary and Uncle Ed. When I saw aunt Mary and Uncle Ed again it was as though I had never left.
She married Edwin Bradley June 1, 1933 in Alanson, Michigan. They had Edwin E. (Mike) Bradley. Then they had a child Ronnie Ray Bradley who died at 4 months of age. Then 12 years later they had James Wesley Bradley (February 18, 1947) whom I was married to for 5 years. When he declared he would rather have his drinking than his family, I left him. We have 2 children.
She had 3 brothers, William, James (1921 - 1994), and Harry (Brownie) Grimes, and 2 sisters Angeline Schmunsler and Violet Schleicher.
When mom Bradley became to frail to live at home she had to go to a nursing home. She said she liked it there and was well taken care of.
We held her funeral at the church. Then we went to the Woodlawn cemetery in Leslie for the burial. Even after I divorced her son she still told people I was her daughter-in-law. I miss you mom and I will always love you just as you always loved me.
