Mary (King) Armstrong, died on the 1 October 1865, Bond County Illinois, there were two children born to Mary and William, a daughter Ida May Armstrong, died 01 November 1865, and another daughter who died shortly after that, they all died in a six weeks period of time, after the deaths of his wife and two children, William left for Tennessee, the family received a few letters from him, and he was living in Memphis, Tennessee yet in 1878, and about that time there was an outbreak of yellow fever. its thought he died then, or soon after,
His part of the estate he inherited from his father, was held at the Court house in Greenville, Bond County, Illinois, for many years, and was finally paid to the estate, William's wife Mary and two small children are buried in the Elm Point Cemetery, Bond County Illinois.
