Mrs. Bertha Winter, 80, 1219 21st Street, died late Monday afternoon at the home of a son Hans after an illness of five years.
Mrs. Winter was born January 16, 1867, at Sateen, Germany. She was married to Albert Winter in 1885 in Germany. They came to the United States and Sioux City 58 years ago. Mr. Winter died in 1945.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors are six sons, Hans, Ernest, Fred and Carl, all of Sioux City, Albert Jr. of Oregon City, Oregon, and Richard of Pittsburgh, California; four daughters, Mrs. Annie Grubel and Mrs. Lena Dinkel, both of Sioux City, Mrs. Marie Cocks of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Mrs. Pauline Oien of Minneapolis, 18 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
The body was taken to the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Winter, 80, 1219 21st Street, who died Monday at the home of a son Hans, will be at 1:30 pm Thursday at the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Fred Winter, Glen Dinkel, Harold Grubel, Arnold Grubel, Henry Grubel, and Carl Winter.
Her father was Carl Friedrich Krupke (1842-1887) and her mother was Anna Caroline Mehlberg (1843-1890). Anna immigrated to the US in 1888, along with daughter Bertha and the rest of Bertha's family. Both parents were from Stettin.
