Eileen was my "AFA", A Friend Always, which is how she always signed her greeting cards. She never missed a holiday, birthday or anniversary. I always knew there would be a card waiting for me in my mailbox for all the seasons. Her last card was for my wedding anniversary, I received it on February 14th. She had gone into the hospital on February 11th.
I can't imagine what my life will be without her friendship. We had known each other since we were 16 and lived together in (Friends Home for Children) Friendly Acres, a foster home in Secane.
She was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off of her back.
She was a second mother to my daughter and she will be so very missed.
I'll miss our monthly shopping sprees and lunches. She is now with her husband who she truly loved.
