Dr. Herb Piper died September 15, 2015 at the age of 94. He was born
in Vacaville, CA in 1921 to Nelson and Florence Piper.
He spent three years in the Air Corps as a buck sergeant instructor
of B29 flight engineer in Texas.
Veterinary Medicine brought Herb to Fresno in 1952 for a job with a local veterinary practice. In 1961, he opened his own clinic, Cedar Veterinary Hospital and continued to own and operate this clinic until 1982.
He married his first wife, Virginia Weirick, in 1957 she died in 1964, they had two children.
In 1966, he married Gertrude Growdon Powers.
He was preceded in death by his son Larry; and his brother Nelson.
In addition to his wife Gertie, Herb is survived by his children,
Cindy Piper DeLotto and her husband Kevin, Julie Powers Willardson and her husband Dean, and Thomas Powers and his wife Karen. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, David Powers and his wife Amy, Tara Powers Mead and her husband Brandon, Erik Willardsen,
Tom Willardsen and his wife Traci, Daniel Marques and his wife Kelly,
Lauren Cain and her husband Channon, and Paul Marques and his
Bridget. He is also survived by sister, Shirley Mahlmann.
A Funeral Service will be held at Millbrook Presbyterian Church, on
Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 10:00 a.m.
