Alden Keyes Prominent Republican Passes Away. Was County Auditor and Also Mercantile Appraiser. Alden Keyes, formerly county auditor, died Friday night at 9:30 at his home in Sylvania Borough. He had been ill for a long time, and confined to his bed for five months. Death was due to heart trouble. Deceased was 77 years of age, and practically all his life was spent in Sylvania, where he was prominent in the affairs of the community. He was a staunch Republican, and took an active interest in politics. He was mercantile appraiser one year, and later served as county auditor. He was a man of sterling integrity, and filled many offices of trust in his home town, as well as the two county offices, always giving excellent satisfaction. His death will be regretted by a host of friends in every section of the county. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Lizzie York of Sylvania, and two brothers in the West. The funeral services were held at the house Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock, and will be in exclusive charge of the Odd Fellows Lodge, he being an enthusiastic member of that order. Interment will be made in the Sylvania cemetery.
