Rita was born in Kingwood, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Alden B. "Jack" and Jessie Mildred Moyers Copeman. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ellaree Wheeler. At the time of her passing, Rita was living at the home of her sister Rosetta in Oakland, Md.

She was a member of the Glade Farms United Methodist Church and attended the Oak Grove Baptist Church, Bel Air. She was also a member of the Baltimore Retired Teachers Association, the Maryland Retired Teachers Association, and the National Education Association.

A graduate of Bruceton High School in 1963 and West Virginia University in 1967, she completed her graduate work at Loyola College, Baltimore.

Rita retired from the Baltimore County school system after 30 years as a mathematics teacher. Following her retirement from teaching, she worked as a financial aid officer at Harford Community College, Bel Air.

She was an avid antique collector and an accomplished pianist.

In addition to her sister and brother-in-law, she is survived by one brother, Edwin; five nieces; one nephew; and many close friends.

Rita and I worked together at Deep Creek Middle School for many years. Her wonderful sense of humor and excellent teaching skills made the days at work brighter. She was an excellent mentor and an even better friend and will be dearly missed.
