My maternal uncle.

Uncle Charlie was the third child of
Aubrey S. and Ruth (Langford) Anglen; the husband of Laura (West); the father of Robert (Tami), Rick (Jamie) and Kimberly (deceased); the proud grandfather of Josiah (deceased), Kimberlee, Micah, Sierra, Vayle, Spenser and Caleb; and the brother of Aubrey (Paul), Peggy, Nancy (deceased), Gary, Patty, Cathy Sue and Stephen.

Uncle Charlie served in the Navy during Vietnam.

It was said in the family that he always said he wanted to marry an older woman. Although Aunt Laura's birthday is the same as Uncle Charlie's, she was born earlier in the day than he, therefore, she was an "older woman"!

In my mind, he & Aunt Laura were the real life Ward & June Cleaver. His family was always first.

Among his other accomplishments, he won the Silver Beaver Award (Boy Scouts) in February of 1996.

He was a very special man who will live on in our hearts and memories.

This is an excerpt from one of his last emails to me:

"I ask for your continued prayers for Laura and the boys & their families. Please know that I'm okay with this. I know where I'm going and it will be wonderful. I hurt tremendously for my wife & family. For some reason, I think they will miss me. Right now, just about my greatest wish is to live long enough to hold our last grandchild (September?)."

Although Uncle Charlie didn't live long enough to hold the last grandchild, he now has a new grandson, Caleb Joseph, born to Rick & Jamie on September 4th. He is two hours old in the photo above.

Cause of death: Pulmonary Fibrosis

My heartfelt thanks to Ed Leffew for sponsoring my Uncle's memorial. I pray that God blesses and keeps him in His tender loving care!
