Maynard 'Dobbs' was the fourth of five children born to Russell Owens 'R.O.' and Elizabeth Ann (Harper) Bean. He married Florence Alabama Gasaway in 1886 and they were the parents of seven children: Russell Owens, Eleanor, Ethel Victoria, Thomas Marshall, Florence Mae, Maynard Solomon and Jordan Sylvester.

M.S. BEAN DIES OF HEART ATTACK
Maynard S. Bean Sr., 75, Carbon county rancher for 36 years, died at his Warren ranch home Thursday nigh of a heart attack.
He was born in Rancho, Texas on Sept.11, 1865. He came to eastern Montana in 1884 and settled near Bridger in 1905, moving to the present ranch in 1914.
On Oct. 26, 1886 he married Florence Gasaway, who died Feb. 16, 1935.
Funeral services were conducted in the Piney school by Cus Thompson of Red Lodge, an old friend of the family. Mr. & Mrs. Hinrichs of Bridger sang the Old Rugged Cross and Beautiful Isle of Somewhere. Mrs. Tuxie Miller furnished the music. The Lord's Prayer was repeated at the grave, burial was in Bowler cemetery.
Pallbearers were Wm. Johnson, Wm. Davis, Charles Fees, Helmert Loyning, Robley Bean and Wm. Rogers.
Survivors include four sons, R.O. Bean of Miles City, T.M. Bean of Shelby, Maynard S. Bean, Jr., of Deaver, Wyo., and J. S. Bean of Warren; two daughters, Mrs. J. L. Storm of Finch, and Mrs. C.F. Bowen of Tujunga, Cal., two brothers, Jordan Bean of Bridger, and Milton Bean of Monida, and a sister, Mrs. Nettie Crawshaw of Forsyth. There are several grandchildren.
