Richard is the third of eight children born to Maynard Solomon Jr. and Anna Caroline (Darrow) Bean. He married Elvera 'Cookie' Marie Orler in 1947 and together had four children: Mary Margaret, Richard James, Robert Gerald and Lucinda Marie.
Richard served in the US Army in Korea between 1951-1953.

Richard D. 'Dick' Bean
Kalispell—Richard D. 'Dick' Bean, 68, of Kalispell, formerly of billings, died Wednesday, August 27, 1997, at St. Patrick's Hospital in Missoula. He was born Dec. 6, 1928, in Warren, the son of Maynard S. and Anna Caroline Bean.
Dick was a member of the Flathead Lake and Evergreen Lions Clubs, and the coast Guard Auxiliary.
Survivors include his wife, Elvera 'Cookie' of Kalispell; his two daughters, Mary Simpson of Kalispell and Lucinda Bean of Tigard, Ore.; his son, Richard James of Eureka; three grandsons, Joshua and Curtis Bean and Robert Simpson; two sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Aug. 30, at John Mortuary in Kalispell. Visitation will be held 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist Alderson chapel. Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Billings. Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association, 2525 Sixth Ave. N., Billings, MT 59101. Michelotti, Sawyers & Nordquist is in charge of local arrangements.
