Cayce was a wonderful dog. Actually she was more than a wonderful dog. She was a great dog. She had to be put to sleep after having suffered a massive stroke. Her brother Oreo just passed a little over two months ago. He had a brain tumor. Cayce was nine and half years old and should have lived a lot longer. We'll miss her. The emergency vet suspects she had a stroke and that caused her to be in a vegetative state. The prognosis was not good because the vet's neurological exam pointed towards severe brain damage, due to a cerebral infarction (stroke). We found her unconscious and unresponsive when we got home, we rushed her to the emergency vet. She never regained consciousness and after a very hard struggle, we agreed the best thing for Cayce was to end her suffering. She slipped from unconsciousness to Rainbow bridge. We are comforted by the thought that she is healthy again and in a beautiful place, where she is finally free.
