Mr. Lesneskie, age 88, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Crittenton Hospital, in Rochester Hills, Michigan. He was born on June 13, 1920 in Barking, Pennsylvania, to Joseph and Mary (nee: Rongers) Lesnicki.

He was a resident of Fraser, Michigan, for 18 years, and he was a former resident of Detroit.

Education: John graduated from Elders Ridge School in Homer, PA

Occupation: Mr. Lesneskie worked in Inventory Control at the Ford Tractor plant in Birmingham, Michigan, from 1954 until he retired in 1986.

He loved hunting and was a member of NRA. He loved to play cards, especially pinochle, going to the casinos, gardening (vegetables and flowers), and working in the yard.

He was a longtime member of the UAW, and was a member of the Board of the TNI Credit Union.

His home in Detroit was a place where everyone frequently gathered. He fed everyone, and no one ever wanted to leave.
Family and friends will remember Mr. Lesneskie as a generous, loving, giving, and private man.

He loved his perfect grandchildren and cherished time spent with them.
He will also be remembered as a big flirt with everyone - and for his blue eyes.

Mr. Lesneskie made sure that his family had a Catholic education from Our Lady of Sorrows (Detroit).

Military: He was a proud U.S. Army Ranger Veteran of WW II, Feb. 13, 1942 - Sept. 22, 1945.
He served in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe.
He earned a Distinguished Unit Badge, and a European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars.

Deceased Wife: Lucille (nee: Wieschowski) Lesneskie, deceased in 2005. They married October 12, 1946 at Our Lady of Sorrows Church.

Surviving Daughters: Eleanor Hoppe (the late Louis), Carol Oravec (James), Linda Peterson (Carl), Judy Filipiak (Christopher), Sandra (Dennis), Rita Emery (Bob), Sally Scheff, and Tina Rigby (David)

Deceased Daughter: the late Evelyn Wajda

Surviving Sons: John (Sally) and Daniel Lesneskie

Visitation: Friday, June 5, 2009, from 2-9 PM at A. J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home, 2600 Crooks Road, Troy, MI 48084 (between Maple and Big Beaver Roads), with an evening Rosary and Family Eulogy Service at 7:30 PM

Funeral Service: Saturday, June 6, 2009 - 10:00 AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Mark Borkowski officiating

Interment: White Chapel Cemetery, in Troy, Michigan
