Shiloh was the subject of a TLC documentary series, "Mermaid Girl".

Shiloh is nothing short of inspiring. If you watched her show, you couldn't help but get completely wrapped up in whatever she was doing because whatever it was, she did it 100%. This beautiful, funny, girl who had such a strong spirit. I have no doubt that she's running and playing with all the other Angel children, including my own daughter, Jade I hope! I can only imagine the joy and love she found when Shiloh and her older sister, Molly were united in Heaven! Molly passed before Shiloh was born. The link to Molly's page is below.

Shiloh was born with fused legs, a rare condition often called Sirenomelia. Doctors didn't think she would survive more than a few days after her birth. Shiloh, whose mother described as "a tough little thing," had been hospitalized in critical condition for nearly a week before she passed away. Being born with sirenomelia also known as "mermaid syndrome,", meant that she had only one partially working kidney, no lower colon or genital organs, and legs fused from the waist down. Some children who have survived Sirenomelia have had surgery to separate their legs, but Shiloh didn't because blood vessels crossing from side to side in her circulatory system would have been severed. She'd had two kidney transplants, the last one in 2007. Shiloh was recently featured on The Oprah Winfrey Show as well as several other national television programs including TLC's "Mermaid Girl" which documented her life and her struggle with the disease. Earlier this month, Shiloh came down with a cold that turned to pneumonia. She had been in the hospital since October 10th. Shiloh was a fifth grader at Kennebunkport Consolidated School. "She was such a shining personality in that building," said Maureen King, chairwoman of the board of the regional school district.

"Kennebunkport- Shiloh Jade Pepin, daughter of Leslie and Elmer Pepin was born August 4th, 1999 and passed away October 23rd, 2009. Shiloh was born with Sirenomela, and in her 10 short years she endured 2 kidney transplants. In 2005 she was chosen to be the Children's Miracle Network Champion for Maine. Although Shiloh's rare condition was considered an insurmountable disability, she never saw it that way. Shiloh lived life to the fullest, tackling every challenge with characteristic courage, humor and a positive outlook. She loved arts and crafts, swimming, butterflies and spending time with her family. Although her physical appearance was the first thing that caught people's eye, Shiloh's personality left the truly lasting impression." - taken from Shilpoh's services at Bibber Memorial Chapel.

**I'd also like to thank DORIS L. BASHEER, TSgt, USAF, for her dedication to Shiloh's memory. Doris leaves many tokens for Shiloh, on a regular basis.

On behalf of Shiloh as well as from myself, thank you DEL & DORIS, for your kind gestures. You are some of the people who make Find A Grave so meaningful.
