1SG William Andrew Buck Sr, Korean and Vietnam War Veteran, Native of Fayetteville, NC. He is the Father of US Marine Cpl William Andrew Buck Jr, who was killed in Vietnam.
William Buck Sr was the son of the late William Frances & Carmen Elizabeth Brown Buck of Wilmington NC

Visiting the moving Wall: On August 20, 2001, I went to the moving wall at Veterans Memorial Park in Fairbanks, Alaska. As I was approaching the wall, I heard a volunteer reading off the names of the men and women on the hall. The name that was announced when I reached the Wall was Bill's. I never knew this Bill but I knew his father through boy scouts. I remember gathering large rocks from the mountains of North Carolina for big Bill to take home and use in his garden. I remember hearing my Mom say that when big Bill was getting sick, it was the Wall that kept him a live. He wanted to live long enough to see his son's name on the wall. He did just that. On a Sunday afternoon, Bill and his wife returned from Washington DC. Bill sat down in his lazy boy chair and passed away. He got his wish. He lived to see his son on the wall. Now the two of them are together again.
