After Denver arrived in Vietnam 21 July 1967, he was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division.
Bravo Company was on a patrol when they were engaged by hostile forces 3 kilometers east of Con Thien (Hill 158). Denver died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head from hostile rifle fire during the firefight.
Survived by his parents, Robert and Alice Kathryn (Dale) Berkheimer and 3 brothers, Dale, Terry and Robert of Apt #103, Russell St, Streetsboro, Ohio.
