Obituary: HUMPHREY HOWDERSHELL; On 7 Nov 1914 Humphrey Howdershell, a resident of Prince William County for many years, died Saturday at his home near Waterfall--he was 70 years old. The funeral and interment took place Monday evening from the Episcopal Church in Hopewell, VA. and which he was a member. Burial was made at his wife's family burying ground nearby (Peake Family Cemetery). The officiating minister was the Rector Mr. Woodyard.
Mr. Howdershell was married to Armenia (Peake) Howdershell in 1869, who predeceased him in August 1910. Mr. Howdershell was a soldier of the Confederacy, and served throughout the Civil War in the Sixth Virginia Cavalry.
Mr. Howdershell was survived by his two children: Mr. Lee Howdershell of the Plains, Virginia; Mrs. Edith Bell of Waterfall, Virginia; two brothers, Scott and William Howdershell, both of Loudoun County, Virginia; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Sinclair of Hopewell, VA. and Mrs. Cora Dawson of Alexandria, Virginia.

Dec 2013- We now have reason to believe that Humphrey Howdershell , h/o Armenia Peake is buried on the old 'Howdershell Homestead,' but his field-stone has long ago become lost.
