Private First Class Finley joined the military in 1950 and was a member of Company K, 3rd Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was taken Prisoner of War while fighting the enemy in South Korea on February 12, 1951 and died while a prisoner on March 31, 1951. He remained missing in action until 2009 when his remains were recovered and identified. He was laid to rest on November 20, 2009. Green is survived by his sister, Dolga Ross of East St. Louis; three nieces, Patricia Harper and Mary Ross of East St. Louis and Brenda Nelson of Los Angeles; and nephew Robert Ross of Des Moines.
