Son of Bryant Watson and Epsy Oswalt of Webster County, Mississippi. He married Joanah Ruth Castle on January 13, 1876. After her death, he married Laura Angelina Hood on August 16, 1906.

His sons were John Bryant Watson of Ft Worth, Texas; Floyd DeWitt Watson of Stanton, Texas; Oscar Fuller Watson of Canoga Park, California; Grover C. Watson of Tahoka, Texas; and Price Magness Watson of Clarksdale, Mississippi.

His daughters were Lelia Lanora Watson (1877-1878), Willie Agnes Watson (1880-1890), Ollie Myrtice Watson Hughes (Harley) of Lums Chapel, Texas, Essie Mae Watson Heizer (William R.) of Dublin, Texas; Lillie Maurine Watson Boswell (Arthur Dale} and Violet Idell Watson Montague (Jason), both of DeLeon, Texas.
