Peever, James R. of St. Petersburg, died Sunday (April 20,2003) at home under the care of Hospice of the Florida Sunset Coast. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, he came here in 1986 from Ontario Canada, where he worked in the trucking industry. Locally he ran Jim Peever's Lawn Care Service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of the Korean War Veterans Association and helped raise funds for a Korean War Memorial to be built in Freedom Lake Park. He was a shelter manager for the Red Cross, a member of the Disston Heights Civic Association and was a volunteer shuttle driver at the V.A Medical Center at Bay Pines. He was a member of St. Bede's Episcopal Church. Survivors include his wife of 51 years Doreen (Tilling) Peever, two sons John O. of Brampton,Ontario, and Robin J. of Toronto, five daughters, Charmaine Peever of Markdale, Ont., Linda MacAskill, Holland Center, Ontario; Susan Bint, Stouffville, Ontario; Laura Brown, Keswick, Ontario; Shawna Riggan, Norfolk, Va., two sisters, Lorraine Dingley, New Brunswick, and Jackie Dougherty, Ontario, three brothers, George, Garden City, Mich. and Carl and Lawrence, both of Ontario. 28 grand children and 18 great grands.
