I met my little friend, Christina through a site entitled MakeAChildSmile.com about a year and a half ago. Christina was born on April 13, 1993 in Monett, Missouri. She was a student at Calvary Holinesss Academy and a member of the Calvary Holiness Church. She collected porcelain dolls and tea sets. She was very people-oriented and was very brave throughout her illness. She contributed her stuffed animals to St. John's Pediatric Unit for patients and was always concerned for other children. At about 30 months old, she was diagnosed with an Atrial and ventricle Septal defect. After a heart catherization, it was found she also needed a double lung transplant and possible heart transplant. Christina battled her condition until 1999 when she developed pulmonary hemorrhages. Christina received a double lung transplant on January 29, 2001. Christina's hospital stay lasted seven months and different problems arose from the transplant. She battled a suppressed immune system and medication reactions. In September of 2002, a study showed renal failure, and Christina only had a 31% kidney function. Christina fought her battle until 9:10 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2003. She is now with her dad, Richard in Heaven. Christina is the daughter of the late Richard L. McReynolds, and is survived by her loving and wonderful mother, Lori, and her brothers, Josiah and Stephan; maternal grandparents, Claude Heacox of Florida and Kathy LaBatte of New York; and paternal grandfather, Fred McReynolds of Neosho, Missouri. Contributions in memory of Christina may be made to the Calvary Christian Acadamy c/o the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
