Fairy was the fifth of seven children born to Fannie Kent and Edwin Oxford. She married Howard "Heavy" Creasey on June 5, 1949, and they had eight children.

She enjoyed all things family, and the Creasey home seemed to always be filled with young people as the Creasey children grew and had children of their own. Each year, and up into her 70s, she canned an enormous amount of vegetables that were raised in their garden. Amidst the bustle of her life, she found time to further her education and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She then worked 15 to 30 hours a week to supplement the family income for nearly 20 years. Her relaxation came from attending family reunions and travelling on family vacations, sewing, reading and working crossword puzzles.

Fairy was preceded in death by her husband; two sons, Glenn and Jim "Crow" Creasey; one granddaughter, Amy Creasey; her parents and five siblings.

Survivors include three daughters, Cathy Benjamin and husband Bob of Dennison, Ill., Jane Johnston and husband Steve of West Terre Haute, and Teresa Myers and husband Doug of Morton, Ill.; three sons, Howard "Lee" Creasey and wife Peggy of West Terre Haute, Tim Creasey and wife Jackie of West Terre Haute, and Sam and wife Casey of Jackson, Miss.; one brother, David Oxford of North Carolina; 23 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

AN ASIDE: She was the fourth and last girl in the family, born nine years after the next youngest. Fairy was cuddled and coddled but, I was told, not spoiled. I was one of the two younger brothers that followed her, and she was the sister with whom we so closely shared an unsettled childhood after our Mother's death. She was a quiet person with a warm friendly personality..., but could be known for a stubborn streak and a firmness in her beliefs. She was my closest sister, my confidant, my friend, and I loved her dearly.
