December 17, 1947 - December 27, 2014
After a heroic battle with cancer, Rick Daggett slipped peacefully away into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
As a member of High Desert Church for many years, he had a heart for helping others. Rick was a highly decorated Army Vietnam Veteran. On November 11th, 2014 he was honored at the Victorville Veterans memorial for his service.
Retiring from Cemex Inc. in March 2010, Rick split his time consulting for Cemex and doing what he loved best - being with his family. He had a gift and passion for problem solving which earned him the nickname, "MacGyver" however the nicknames he cherished most were Honey, Dad and Grampy.
Graduating from Victor Valley High School in 1966, he met the love of his life, Pam Mull.
Rick leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Pam, his sons Michael (Sandra), Robert (Teri) and Matthew (Jamie), as well as grandchildren, Shawnee, Sierra, Madison, Jack, Robert, Mackenzie, Mason and Mayzie; and one great granddaughter, Cami. Rick was preceded in death by his parents Carolyn Lewis and Jack Daggett. He leaves behind his sister, Debbie (Jerry) Samson, and Don Daggett, as well as nephews and nieces. There were many "adopted" children and grandchildren he claimed as well, loving them as deeply as his own children.
Rick loved traveling with his family. He always said it was the journey, not the destination, that excited him most. He loved hiking, camping, deer hunting, and four-wheeling and exploring God's creation. NASCAR - he and his wife, Pam loved NASCAR. They shared a passion for most any motorsport competition. Early in their marriage, drag racing was a big part of their lives, racing in the 70's at a local eighth-mile track on George Air Force Base, High Desert Raceway. But lately, their motorsport love turned to NASCAR, where Rick purchased seats at Auto Club Speedway with their names on them.
The Memorial Service for Rick will be held Saturday, January 3rd, 2015, at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307. There will be a viewing on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm at Sunset Hills. Interment will be Wednesday, January 7th, 2015 at Riverside National Cemetery.
Rick's wishes were for his memorial service to be a casual event. In honor of his request, the family will be wearing T-shirts and jeans. Please feel free to do the same. My husband was the most humble, loving, honest man I've ever known. He was just Rick ... totally comfortable in his own skin. I will miss you, my love. But for now there is no more pain. See you later, Babe.
