Went to see his family and his Maker from home on March 27, 2008 due to a brief illness. He was born in Wauchula, Florida on December 28, 1922 (along with a twin sister) to Harry Andrew and Lydia Ella nee Payne. His mother (Lydia) died when he was 7 and Harry married his second mother Anna S. nee Specht. Brothers predeceasing him were Harry T., Russell I., Bernard W., and Lawrence E. and favorite cousin Bernard (Bernie) F. Wallach. Sisters predeceasing him were his twin infant sister (died at birth), Dorothy M. Jameson, Evylin O. Hensley, and Elizabeth A. Horn. Sister's Avis M. Glorius (Ocala), Mary Patricia Lott (Miami), and Rita A. Schneider (Miami) survive him. Brother's Robert F. (Raleigh, NC), Russell I. (Miami), and Richard A. (Ocala) survive him. His wife of 60 years, Joan Bowron Lowe, son Dr. David V. (Marianne E.), part-time son James R. Hager, grandchildren BethAnne Helen, Casey Robin, and Christopher Scott-Bowron plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and MANY FRIENDS also survive him. He was Baptized on January 19, 1923 and had his First Holy Communion on May 8, 1932. He and his families lived in Miami, FL; Washington, DC and Wauchula, FL. He joined the US Army on December 19, 1940 and was honourably discharged on October 23, 1945 and received the following awards: American Defense, Army of Occupation - Germany, World War II, American Campaign, Good Conduct, and European Africa Middle Eastern Campaign. He was with the 124th AAA Gun Battalion Battery C which was part of the 9th Army in Europe. He met his wife, Joan, while serving in Coventry, England and brought her to America so he could marry her on July 14, 1947. He and Joan celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in Tile Hill, England with Joan's younger sister, Diane (Ken) Wilson, (and many family members and friends) who were married a month before them in 1947. He previously worked in Miami as a bookkeeper for Beloff Painting Contractors and Dade County Dairies before finally settling in Ocala in 1961 to begin a career in residential and commercial construction with his brother-in-law, Bill Hensley. His company, Glorious Built Homes was very successful. He also started Ocala Chemical Portables with William "Bill" Henderson, and Ocala Floor Covering. He retired in 1984 after building about 125 residential homes in Marion and surrounding counties and several commercial structures here in Ocala. He was President of the Marion County Home Builders Association from 1969 to 1970. He was an avid golfer and belonged to Golden Hills Golf & Country Club (where he got his only Hole-in-One on Sunday, August 1, 1976 on Hole #8, 175 yards), Silver Springs Shores Golf & Country Club, and Ocala Municipal Golf Course. He played courses all over the US and England. He even was lucky enough to walk the Augusta National several times. Viewing will be at Hiers Funeral Home on Silver Springs Blvd on April 2nd from 6pm to 8pm, and a Funeral Mass will be said by Father Patrick Sheedy on April 3rd at 4PM at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala, Florida.
