"This stone is erected by the officers of the Grenadier Guards in memory of Captain E Ludlow MC Officer of Invalids Royal Hospital Chelsea and Formerly of the Grenadier Guards. And of his wife Jessie Sophia and their two sons Ernest John aged 10 years and J. Bernard aged 41/2 years killed by a bomb during the German air raid of 1918. In affectionate remembrance of a brave and esteemed comrade."
