Henry Spencer, of Badby, Northants was the son of Thomas Spencer, of Defford. He married Isabel, daughter of Henry Lincoln. To this union four sons were born: John Spencer, of Hodnell, Warwicks, Thomas, William, and Nicholas.

Henry Spencer was the first to drop the Norman prefix of "De" and the family name became Spencer. When Henry died his last will was sealed with the Spencer family coat of arms that the Spencer family still bears today.

There is a HUGE article in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register, Vol 174 (Summer 2020), p.200ff regarding Henry and his descendancy. You may wish to update this memorial (and those of related family members) accordingly.
