On Saturday, September 20, 2003, over 30,000 Bosnians attended former U.S. President Bill Clinton's opening the monument to commemorate the Srebrenica genocide. Mr. Clinton, who was US President at the time when the Bosnian war finally ended in 1995, unveiled the Genocide Memorial on the occasion of his visit to former BiH President Mr. Izetbegovic.
In this very moving ceremony, Mr. Clinton's words were: "We remember this terrible crime because we dare not forget, because we must pay tribute to the innocent lives, many of them children, snuffed out in what must be called genocidal madness."
A heartfelt thank you to our friend Fayth Evjen for kindly sponsoring this memorial.
