Our beloved one, John "Johnny" McCree, Jr. son of John William and Josephine McCree was born at a time when the bitter legacy of slavery and Reconstruction still positioned the lives of African Americans. He was married to Ida G. McCree who preceded him at a young age in death. The union produced one son, Otis W. McCree. Johnny later remarried to Cora L. Turner and this union produced four children. He was one of College Park, Georgia's well known citizen's. As a brick mason, he, along with his father John McCree, Sr. helped and constructed many buildings in the College Park business district. These edifices included Woodward Academy, The College Park Municipal Golf Course, College Park First United Methodist Church and Laster Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a member of Laster Chapel UMC and in his earlier years served in many official capacities and as a loyal member of the choir. For several years he was active in fraternal organizations and community baseball clubs. John McCree, Jr. departed this life in Atlanta, GA at a local hospital after a long illness.
