Ferdinando (Fred) Ciaburri, 88, of Midland Beach died Tuesday in Statin Island Hospital after one year illness.
Born in Genestra, Italy, Mr. Ciaburri moved to Jersey City in 1913 and to Grant City in 1928. He Settled in Midland Beach in 1940.
Mr. Ciaburri worked for the Bethlehem Steel Co. in Bayonne for 23 years before retiring in 1966.
He belonged to the Holy Name Society of Saint Margaret Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Midland Beach.
Mr. Ciaburri was a member of the Livingston Post, American Legion, and the Manresa Council, Knights of Columbus, in New Dorp.
A World War I veteran, he served with the Army in Europe from 1918 to 1919.
Mr. Ciaburri and his wife, Antoinette, celebrated their 61 st wedding anniversary last June.
Also surviving are three sons, 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral will be tomorrow from the Richmond Funeral Home in Grant City, with Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary's Church. Burial will be in Moravian Cemetery, New Dorp.
