Hampton H. was the son of Fair M. and Sally STATON Little of Gibson County, Tn. He settled in Tallahatchie County, Ms. after his first wife died in the mid 1850s. He married Sabra Jane Arbuckle Dec 29, 1859 in Charleston, Tallahatchie, Ms. They lived near the tiny town of Murphreeboro. In 1861 he and his brother Thomas went to Grenada and joined up with Captain Robert Robson's Rebels. in Co. B, 29th Reg't Mississippi Vols.
In 1862 he was shot in the hip, captured by the Yanks for a few months, and when
the war was over he walked every step of the way from Vicksburg, Ms. to his home. His brother Thomas was killed at Vicksburg.
Grandpap Hamp was a hard worker and gave each of his six children forty acres of land.
He was my great grandfather.
