George Herbert Skolfield was born in Cundy's Harbor, Maine. He married,on Jan. 4,1900 to Mildred Stuart Strout born in Portland, Maine. She was the daughter of Stuart Anderson Strout, born in Limington, Maine and Mary Helen Smith born in Charlotte, Maine a daughter of Zadok Smith born in Machais, Maine, and Emma Wilder of Dansville, Maine. George became a Real Estate Broker in Portland, Maine. He moved to Bisbee, Arizona where he was emloyed as a machinist by the Copper Queen Mining Company. George and Mildred moved to Los Angeles California where they spent their lives.

Service at Crenshaw United Methodist Church, 3740 Don Felipe Drive, In charge of celebration are Mr., and Mrs. Stuart Skolfield, Martha Mae and sons Stuart Woodside, and John Shelley. Mr. Skolfield has five sons and has been a member of the church for nine years, in addition to Stuart, Carl, George, Tommy, and Herbert. Mr. George Herbert Skolfield has 12 grandchildren & 13 Great-Grandchildren. He was formerly superintendent of Los Angeles Investment Mill, was superintendent of construction of Power Plant in Eagle Rock, CA. For the Webber Diller Company and was sent north by the company to straighten up a leaning Saw mill in Eureka. He has witnessed many changes in the Southwest, from the days of the horse and buggy, and the old Agricultural Park which is Exposition Park. He remembers Vernon Avenue that was devoted to the Japanese gardens.
