Balistics expert. He graduated from Bowdoin College in 1885, with "Phi Beta Kappa honors". He was captain of the crew team, and member of the rugby team. He continued his studies at Bowdoin's Medical School, and earned his degree from there in 1889. He was a college physician, professor of pathology, and bacteriology, at the medical school. He was an expert in microscopy, and developed a keen interest in forensics. He was the first scientist, to determine that the firing pins of rifles, and pistols have unique markings, and get tranferred to the shells, which are fired by the weapon. He was called upon several times, to give expert tesimony, in several murder cases, regarding balistics. He was also the Cumberland Co., Health Commissoner, and Brunswicks, Milk Examiner.
