May H. Anderson, 97, of Highland, formerly of Lincoln, died at 10:05 p.m. Sunday (Feb. 26, 1995) at Hitz Home, Alhambra.

She was born July 29, 1897, at Rock Creek, Kan., a daughter of Charles S. and Agnes J. Welsh Hunter. She married N.H. Anderson June 18, 1926, in Kansas. He died Aug. 15, 1964.

She is survived by one son, Charles H., Belleville; two daughters, Mary Broughton, Highland; and Julia Brady, Roselle; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Anderson taught school in Beason and was director of food service at Lincoln College. She was affiliated with First United Methodist Church, Lincoln.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of Eastern Star No. 351, the White Shrine of Jerusalem No. 100, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and was past president of the Logan/DeWitt Retired Teachers.

Grandchildren are Calvin D. Broughton, Curtis M. Broughton, Mary Beth Broughton, Christopher J. Broughton, Rodney Anderson, Thomas Anderson, Eric Brady and Heather Brady.

Great Grandchilren are Mike Hamilton, Brad Hamilton, Jake Broughton, Christine Broughton Ostertag, Kate Broughton, Michael Broughton, Heather Anderson, Allyson Anderson and Ava Anderson.


Funeral at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln, with the Rev. Gaylord Buss officiating. Burial in Union Cemetery, Lincoln.
