Charles associated with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Both had dinner at his ranch. It is said that Charles also knew Jesse James and Frank James. Charles was a rancher/ stockman/ farmer all his life. He made many trips to Missouri, where he was born, later returning to the Little Snake River in Wyoming and bringing his mother with him when his father died. He also went to the Red Dessert and captured Wild Horses which he provided for the outlaws. He did this with his sons and grandsons. He was called "A Little Outlaw" by his wife, Elizabeth.
